Firefox 3.6.6 modifies the crash protection feature to increase the amount of time that plugins are allowed to be non-responsive before being terminated.

If you using Ubuntu you can Install or Update it via PPA.

• Open Terminal(Applications – Accessories – Terminal) and copy-paste the following line into Terminal.

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa
  

• Done. Now update repositories and upgrade your native Firefox 3.6 to its latest version, Firefox 3.6.6.

I really didn’t expect the Fn keys to work out of the box on my Asus EeePC 1005HA (so this method has only been tested for this Asus EeePC model, I don’t know if it works on others) and unfortunately I was right. However, the fix is very quick. Here’s what you have to do.

Notice: editing the Grub can be dangerous so be very careful not to change anything else!

To enable the Fn keys on an Asus EeePC 1005HA (possibly other models too) with Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, open a terminal and type:

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

and search for the line that says:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT

This line should originally look like this:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

Add acpi_osi=Linux to the end of the line, before the closing quote. Basically after you edit it, the line should look like this:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux"

Once you’re done, save the file and run the following command:

sudo update-grub

Now reboot!

file CHM umumnya ditemukan pada sistem operasi Windows (MS Windows Help File Format). Format ini memudahkan pengarsipan file html ke dalam satu file tunggal, termasuk gambar dan lainnya. Sekarang, Linux dan mac tidak memiliki dukungan built-in untuk menangani file CHM. Dalam artikel ini akan dijelaskan bagaimana mengkonversi file CHM ke file PDF di Linux.

Langkah 1 : install paket chm2pdf

• debian/ubuntu:

sudo apt-get install libchm-bin

• fedora/redhat/suse:

sudo yum -y install chmlib

Langkah 2: Untuk mengkonversi file CHM agar setara PDF, yang perlu Anda lakukan adalah melakukan perintah seperti berikut :

    chm2pdf  –book <yourCHM.chm>   <outputname.pdf>

Setelah pelaksanaan perintah ini, Anda akan melihat sebuah file pdf dalam direktori yang sama File CHM Anda yang baru saja dikonversi. Jika Anda memiliki masalah tentang, maka Anda dapat menggunakan FAQs.

Pada beberapa waktu yang lalu, saya menulis tentang memasang Open Office 3.2 melalu download deb. Tetapi cara tersebut tidak mendukung upgrade karena mereka tidak diinstal melalui repositori , karena itu dengan disarankan untuk menginstal / upgrade OpenOffice ke versi 3.2 di ubuntu 9,10 (Karmic) dengan menggunakan paket-paket di OpenOffice Scribblers PPA.

Untuk menginstal / upgrade OpenOffice 3,2 di Ubuntu 9,10 Karmic Koala, sisipkan perintah berikut dalam terminal:

1. Menambahkan Repository OpenOffice Scribblers PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openoffice-pkgs/ppa

2. Install OpeOffice 3.2

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install openoffice.org

3. Jika menggunakan Gnome, instal paket berikut :

sudo apt-get install openoffice.org-gnome

4. Jika menggunakan KDE, install paket berikut :

sudo apt-get install openoffice.org-kde

5. Upgrade ke OpenOffice 3.2

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Catatan: Jika sebelumnya Anda telah menginstal OpenOffice dari. Deb file yang disediakan di situs OpenOffice atau Go-OO paket dari situs Go-OO, pergi ke System> Administration> Synaptic Package Manager, kemudian cari “openoffice” dan hapus semua paket , kemudian lanjutkan dengan langkah-langkah yang disebutkan di atas untuk menginstal OpenOffice OpenOffice 3,2 melalui PPA Scribblers repositori.

Ternyata sekarang Songbird sudah bisa di install dari repository dengan apt-get. Langkah-langkahnya adalah sebagai berikut :

Install Songbird di Ubuntu Lucid dan Karmic

• Menambahkan Songbird-daily PPA and GPG Key, cukup copy pastekan perintah di bawah ini pada terminal

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:songbird-daily/ppa

• Install Songbird

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install songbird

Install Songbird in Ubuntu Jaunty and Intrepid

• Menambahkan GPG Key.

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 5719E347

• Menambahkan di source.lst (tergantung dari versi Ubuntu Anda)

Awalnya saya ingin menunggu PPA (OpenOffice Scribblers) untuk mendapatkan OpenOffice 3,2 tetapi tampaknya akan terlalu lama dan tidak mungkin akan menunggu sampai Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10,04) untuk menginstal OpenOffice terbaru 3,2 (walaupun Ubuntu menggunakan OO-Go, sebuah versi yang dioptimalkan OpenOffice), jadi saya memutuskan untuk men-download dan menginstal OOo 3,2 dari situs resminya. Penginstalan sangat mudah dan cepat!

Sebelum melanjutkan ke instalasi OpenOffice 3,2 (versi OpenOffice.org), perlu diketahui bahwa ada beberapa perbedaan antara versi OpenOffice.org dan OpenOffice.org versi dari repositori Ubuntu! Seperti saya katakan di atas, Ubuntu menggunakan versi yang optimal dari OpenOffice.org disebut OO-Go. Baca lebih lanjut mengenai OO-Go, di sini

Hal pertama yang perlu dilakukan adalah menghapus setiap paket OpenOffice Anda yang mungkin telah terinstal di komputer Ubuntu anda:

sudo apt-get remove openoffice*

Kemudian, untuk men-download dan menginstal OpenOffice 3,2 di Ubuntu, cukup copy & paste perintah di bawah ini di terminal (perintah yang dilakukan adalah men-download. Tar.gz arsip yang meliputi Ubuntu. Deb file, extract file dan kemudian menginstal mereka semua secara rekursif )
Ubuntu 32bit:

Jika Anda ingin secara manual men-download OpenOffice 3.2. Deb, mendapatkan arsip dari SINI (pilih “Linux 32-bit DEB” atau “Linux 64-bit DEB” tergantung pada Ubuntu anda terinstal arsitektur).

Harap dicatat bahwa perintah di atas disesuaikan untuk bahasa AS OpenOffice.org. Jika Anda ingin men-download OpenOffice 3.2 untuk bahasa yang berbeda, sesuaikan bahasa dalam nama file dalam perintah tersebut!

OpenOffice versi baru telah dirilis dengan berbagai fitur baru dan perbaikan. Perbaikan yang paling terlihat adalah waktu startup yang lebih cepat. Word dan Calc kini mulai naik 46% lebih cepat pada “cold start” dibandingkan dengan OpenOffice 3.2.

Beberapa peningkatan yang dilakukan antara lain

• Password protected Microsoft Office XML files (supported document types: MS Word 2007 documents (*.docx, *.docm); MS Word 2007 templates (*.dotx, *.dotm); MS Excel 2007 documents (*.xlsx, *.xlsm); MS Excel 2007 binary documents (*.xlsb); MS Excel 2007 templates (*.xltx, *.xltm); MS Powerpoint 2007 documents (*.pptx, *.pptm); MS Powerpoint 2007 templates (*.potx, *.potm)).
• OLE objects, form controls and pivot tables can now be read from MS Excel 2007 documents (*.xlsx, *.xlsb).
• Encryption support within the Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP filter allows password protected Microsoft Word documents to be saved (using the Microsoft Office standard RC4 algorithm).
• Filters for AportisDoc and PocketWord now support type detection based on DocType. As a result, files in these formats can be loaded without explicitly selecting the document type in the file picker.
• When writing string data to SYLK files, embedded double quotes are no longer escaped by doubling; semicolons are now escaped by doubling. This improves compatibility with files created by other applications.

• Menambahkan Banshee PPA Daily dengan cara mengetikkan perintah berikut pada terminal / console :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/banshee-daily

• Update software list dengan perintah

sudo apt-get update

• Install Banshee dengan perintah

sudo apt-get install banshee

Untuk mengaktifkan ctrl+alt+backspace di Ubuntu 9.10 caranya adalah sebagai berikut :

Masuk ke System->Preferences->Keyboard. Pilih tab Layouts ,dan klik Layout Options.

Pada jendela keyboard layout options, pilih “Key sequence to kill the X server”
