What’s New in Firefox 3.6.6
Firefox 3.6.6 modifies the crash protection feature to increase the amount of time that plugins are allowed to be non-responsive before being terminated.

If you using Ubuntu you can Install or Update it via PPA.

• Open Terminal(Applications – Accessories – Terminal) and copy-paste the following line into Terminal.

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa
  

• Done. Now update repositories and upgrade your native Firefox 3.6 to its latest version, Firefox 3.6.6.

  sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

• Done

Well, I am abit ahead of the release date. This tutorial is done on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 beta and I would not expect there would be major changes in final release that could disrupt any instructions listed here.
Prerequsites

Ubuntu repository contains Ruby 1.9.1 package however this package suffers few bugs that doesn’t run some Gem packages. So I would highly RECOMMEND you to compile for yourself a instance of Ruby 1.9.1 from source. To compile Ruby from source, you need to install compilers and libraries headers.

Ruby on Rails
Ruby on Rails is an open source web framework for developing database backed web applications. It is optimized for sustainable productivity of the programmer since it lets the programmer to write code by favouring convention over configuration.

It’s both nice and bad when I upgrade to a newer Ubuntu version. The good part is I have lots of posts material for the blog but the bad part is there’s always something on my main computer or netbook which doesn’t work out of the box and needs tweaking.

Pada beberapa waktu yang lalu, saya menulis tentang memasang Open Office 3.2 melalu download deb. Tetapi cara tersebut tidak mendukung upgrade karena mereka tidak diinstal melalui repositori , karena itu dengan disarankan untuk menginstal / upgrade OpenOffice ke versi 3.2 di ubuntu 9,10 (Karmic) dengan menggunakan paket-paket di OpenOffice Scribblers PPA.

Songbird adalah salah satu multimedia player yang disebut juga Desktop Web Player. Mirip sekali dengan I-Tunes dan dibangun dari Mozilla. Ketika saya masih menggunakan Hardy Heron dan Jaunty, saya belum bisa menemukan cara Install Songbird dengan apt-get, sehingga harus download source nya atau download .debnya.

Ternyata sekarang Songbird sudah bisa di install dari repository dengan apt-get. Langkah-langkahnya adalah sebagai berikut :

Awalnya saya ingin menunggu PPA (OpenOffice Scribblers) untuk mendapatkan OpenOffice 3,2 tetapi tampaknya akan terlalu lama dan tidak mungkin akan menunggu sampai Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10,04) untuk menginstal OpenOffice terbaru 3,2 (walaupun Ubuntu menggunakan OO-Go, sebuah versi yang dioptimalkan OpenOffice), jadi saya memutuskan untuk men-download dan menginstal OOo 3,2 dari situs resminya. Penginstalan sangat mudah dan cepat!

OpenOffice versi baru telah dirilis dengan berbagai fitur baru dan perbaikan. Perbaikan yang paling terlihat adalah waktu startup yang lebih cepat. Word dan Calc kini mulai naik 46% lebih cepat pada “cold start” dibandingkan dengan OpenOffice 3.2.

Banshe adalah salah satu Multimedia Player Opensource yang dapat dijalankan di Linux maupun Mac OSX. Banshee juga dapat digunakan untuk mengelola koleksi CD termasuk mengimpor ke format yang diinginkan. Banshes juga menyokong platform beberapa perangkat lain seperti MTP atau iPod untuk pertukaran konten dan sinkronisasi.

Versi rilis terakhir dari Banshee adalah Banshee 1.5.3 atau 1.6 Beta 4. Fitur dari rilis terbaru ini antara lain
